The Mareeba district had a huge tobacco growing region, which in its heyday was worth $60 Million dollars a year to the region.

 
Today 90% of the coffee grown in Australia is grown here, alongside many other traditional, and not so traditional crops producing the regions income, following the demise of tobacco.

 
Your experienced and informative guide will explain about the massive irrigation scheme that made it possible. You will also hear many things you didn't know about your food, and the processes needed to get it ready for consumption.

The Curtain Fig tree became part of the World Heritage Wet Tropics national park in 1988, and protects a small pocket of endangered Mabi forest, and is a home to the Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroo.

 
Yes! We have a a nocturnal tree climbing Kangaroo. Our late afternoon visit improves your chances of seeing it.
